Last night saw MADD Canada visiting the Weyburn Salvation Army for an open house presentation.

"It ended up being more of a come and go which was fine, I got to have more one and one conversations as they came which was great," says Michelle Okere, MADD Chapter Services Manager with Saskatchewan. "We had a lot of interest and support from the police which was awesome for us."

MADD is a supporter of the Weyburn Police Service initiative "This Rides On Us," and saw that the community as a whole supports the program, including many Weyburn businesses. Although Weyburn has already started the conversation MADD can help educate citizens and really foster those conversations.

MADD is always looking to spread their message and there are ways people can get involved as well.

"Really it's just looking at the next steps it's getting the right people around the table, there is an application process, obviously a little bit of a background check given you would be working in this field specifically and then we would give you all the tools that you would need to move forward," says Okere.

If you are looking for further information on MADD visit their website here. Okere mentioned she would be thrilled to start an official chapter in Weyburn and get more people involved. She welcomes inquires and her information is on the website.
