The window to submit nominations for the municipal elections closed Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. At last count, there were 14 names submitted for Weyburn City Council. There are also two candidates in the mayoral race, and a number of candidates in the school board elections.

For Weyburn city council, here are the 14 candidates seeking the six seats:

  • Winston Bailey (incumbent)

  • Tim Hughes

  • Jason Bill

  • Jeff Heisler

  • Mel Van Betuw (incumbent)

  • Jeff Richards

  • Jeff Chessall

  • Brad Wheeler

  • Nancy Styles (incumbent)

  • Laura Morrissette (incumbent)

  • Dick Michel (incumbent)

There are two candidates for mayor:

  • Deb Button (incumbent)

  • Marcel Roy

In the election for the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division, two are seeking election:

  • Jerome Sidloski

  • Bruno Tuchscherer

There have been four names submitted for the South East Cornerstone Public School Division board:

  • Warren Betker

  • Bruce Wagner

  • Melanie Sorensen

  • Brandon Tichkowsky

Nominated candidates have until 4:00 p.m. Thursday to withdraw their names. The election itself will be held on October 26th.
