The recent hot and dry weather has prompted Weyburn's Nickle Lake Regional Park to instate a fire reduction.

"Just because we are so short on rain this year," said Jens Neuberger, Nickle Lake Office Employee. "We're just asking that fires be kept low and if you leave your site or when you're going to bed that you put it out."

This is for the safety of everyone in the park. Failure to follow the request does have consequences.

"If they do not follow this request they will receive a $100 fine," added Neuberger. "And then they won't be able to have fires for the rest of their stay."

Last year Nickle Lake put on a full fire ban and if it doesn't rain enough soon they may have to place a fire ban this year as well.

The weather forecast shows a good chance of showers for today and tonight. Hopefully Saskatchewan receives the much needed rainfalls in the near future.
