Work is nearing completion at the Weyburn Water Treatment Plant. Cement work for the new reservoir at the plant is now complete.

"We are doing some earthwork around the reservoir and we will start building the new distribution room soon," shared Director of Engineering for the City Nader Keshta.

He said the work is on schedule and is expected to be complete by March. Phase one of the project began in March 2017.

The new 11.8 million litre reservoir will increase Weyburn’s water capacity by 200 percent.

Plans are also underway to replace the pump that failed in June, which led to a week-long boil water advisory. Keshta said the new pump has been ordered to replace the one that failed and it will be here by the end of the month.

Keshta wished to remind residents that water restrictions remain in place.

"The lake levels are fine right now," explained Kestha. "We are 14 centimetres below the full level, however, still, I advise people to conserve water."
