The project to replace all of the water meters in Weyburn is nearing completion. There are now just under a dozen homes left, according to Amber Wiggins, the communications officer for the City of Weyburn.

Those home have all received a number of notices, and have been given a final notice from the city. If they fail to schedule an appointment with Corix, they run the risk of having their water services turned off.

Wiggins explained to schedule an appointment, a resident needs to call Corix at 1-855-455-3696. Once the appointment is scheduled, there will not be any interruption in service.

The city began the water meter replacement program last year. The total price tag from last summer for the project was just under $2 million. Grants from the provincial and federal government helped cover one-third of the final cost.

The new meters use LTE technology to report back the water usage and allowed for quick usage statistic updates. There will be a companion app for smartphones also made available with the new meters which will allow residents to track their usage as well.
