Multiple mental health crises kept Weyburn police busy this past week.

At 4 in the morning on April 18, officers responded to a call about a 19-year-old woman threatening to harm herself. The police were able to convince her to go to the Weyburn General Hospital. Just 50 minutes later, a 20-year-old man was also transported to the Weyburn General Hospital after threatening to harm himself. EMS staff assisted police with this call.

On Thursday, officers responded to a call regarding a distressed 28-year-old woman. Police found the woman in an incoherent state and transported her to the Weyburn General Hospital.

On Saturday, officers were called to a mental health centre to assist healthcare workers with an aggressive patient. Before officers arrived on the scene, the 22-year-old woman escaped and entered a home. She was arrested, charged with Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling and returned to the mental health facility.

Later that same day, at about 2 p.m., officers dealt with a different 22-year-old female who was exhibiting strange behavior. She was eventually transported to the Weyburn Mental Health Centre for observation.

April 18th

At about 4am the Weyburn PS received a call about a 19 year old female who was threatening self-harm. The police were able to convince the girl to go to the Weyburn General Hospital to be checked out.

At about 4:50 am the Weyburn PS received a call regarding a 20 year old male who had harmed himself. EMS assisted in this call and the male was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital for observation.

 

April 19th

At about 10:35 pm the Weyburn PS received a call regarding a person trying to get into a private residence. Upon arrival a 38 year old male was taken into custody for being intoxicated and held until sober.

 

April 20th

At about midnight the Weyburn PS observed a 34 year old male person in a local bar. The male was on curfew conditions relating to ongoing charges before the Courts. As a result he was charged with 2 counts of Breaching an earlier Courtrelease and was Remanded in Custody.

The Weyburn PS has received numerous calls from local residents regarding both a scam in the name of the STARS lottery as well as a CRA Scam. In the STARS case the victim is being notified they have won a major prize and are being requested to pay the tax on the prize. It is against the law in Canada to have to pay anything for a legitimately won prize. In the CRA scam case as in others similar to this before the victim is being threatened with legal action unless they pay. CRA does not operate in this manner.

At about 11pm the Weyburn PS were called to a residence regarding a 28 year old female who was threatening to harm herself by taking pills. Upon arrival they located the female in an incoherent state and transported her to the WeyburnGeneral Hospital for observation.

 

April 21st

At about 11pm the Weyburn PS conducted a traffic stop. As the result of the stop a 42 year old male was arrested and is facing numerous charges including; possession of marijuana, possession of cannabidiol, and Breaching release Conditions on a charge still before the Courts. He was Remanded into Custody.

 

April 22nd

At about 6am the Weyburn PS were called to the local Mental Health Centre to assist with an aggressive patient. Before police could arrive the patient escaped from the institution and was observed to run away and enter a local area
residence. A 22 year old female was arrested at the residence without incident and returned to the Hospital. She is facing a charge of Being Unlawfully in a Dwelleing. 

At about 2pm the Weyburn PS dealt with a 22 year old female who was exhibiting strange behavior. She was eventually transported to the Weyburn Mental Health Centre for observation.
