Starting on Tuesday, August 4th, the Weyburn Public Library will be opening to the public. However, with this opening, there will be restrictions put in place in order to comply with orders put in place by the chief medical health officer.

The hours will be changing to 10 AM to 7 PM starting on August 4th. As well, the public will be allowed to enter the library, though there will be some areas with restricted access. Additionally, the number of people permitted in the library will be limited at this time and browsing is not allowed.

"Our staff is still following the health protocol put in place by the Province," said Matthew Rankin, the branch manager at the Weyburn Public Library. "We're social distancing, we're wearing gloves and sanitizing surfaces as soon as they're used."

He says the curbside pickup will be changing slightly. Rather than arranging for a time to come pick up the items, you will receive a text when your item is ready for pickup. He adds that the dropoff system will not be changing either. People who are returning items are encouraged to use the blue dropbox bin to return their items.

After items are returned, they are quarantined for 72 hours to ensure they are safe to return to shelves. Rankin says because of this, don't be surprised if your account still shows the item checked out for several days after they have been returned.

At this time there will only be a single computer available for public use at the library due to health and safety concerns.

Rankin says as the province continues to progress through the phases of reopening, they will be opening more of the library.
