On Tuesday night, Weyburn was the latest stop for Canadian icon Jann Arden on her cross Canada tour. It was the 13th stop on tour and just one of three here in Saskatchewan. Arden's performance in front of a sold out Cugnet Centre crowd has been getting rave reviews here in town.

Linda Aitken is the President of the Weyburn Concert Series and says the crowd of 896 was singing along to her hits all night.

"The Cugnet Centre was a hopping place. It was an absolutely fabulous concert. I think generally speaking, as people were leaving, we had a very, very happy audience," Aitken said. "Jann was amazing. We got little blips of things that have happened in her life between her songs. She's had a lot of serious things happen in her life, probably lots more than most of us — lots of unhappy things. But, she's managed to move through it all. She had a fabulous backup band."

Her Fall 2018 tour is in support of her newest studio album, "These Are The Days". Arden's tour kicked off in Ontario on October 10 and will wrap up in B.C. on November 24. Just past the halfway point of her journey, the singer had some heartfelt words for The Opportunity City.

"She's on a cross-Canada tour and toward the end, she said something to the effect of, 'so far Weyburn had been her favourite place to play.' I felt that was a nice compliment to Weyburn," Aitken noted.

It was a successful concert in Weyburn, perhaps one of the most successful in recent memory. The two and a half hour show had the crowd engaged the whole time and enjoying some of the Calgary natives most famous songs. Aitken added Arden encouraged other big artists to come and play in smaller venues and cities such as Weyburn.
