Carlyle RCMP acted on a suspicion of an impaired driver and ended up arresting a 41-year-old man on a list of charges.

Lindsay Cote was stopped by the RCMP at approximately 1:45 p.m. on October 10. One of the officers was a qualified Drug Recognition Expert and performed the test that concluded Cote was in fact under the influence of drugs. Following the arrest, a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the finding of a firearm, which in turn led to numerous charges against the man.

It is possible the vehicle Cote was driving was stolen, as was the firearm. Officers at the scene also noted the gun had been illegally tampered with. The 41-year-old was charged with six offences, including Impaired Driving, Driving while Prohibited, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Defacing a Serial # on a firearm, and two counts of Breach of Probation.

Cote appeared in Estevan Provincial Court today. The RCMP will provide an update on the case when available.
