Many people in Weyburn are wondering where the Habitat for Humanity home building program is at in terms of location and the fortunate recipient.

The program originally kicked off in June with a home qualifier meeting in July. Winston Bailey, chair of the Habitat for Humanity committee, explains what has happened since, "Habitat for Humanity hasn't gone away, you probably havven't heard much about it but we're continuing to work."

Bailey said that the committee had to re-group this summer and adjust how they were doing the homeowner application process to ensure everything is being done fairly and correctly. The committee plans to meet next week to go over some final details, including the new location for the local Habitat for Humanity house, which will now be on Victoria Street instead of the developing Riverwood neighbourhood, where it was announced this summer to be located.

There will be a home ownership information session on Wednesday, November 13, where residents can get information on how to apply for the Weyburn Habitat for Humanity house. Those interested must be in attendance and pre-registration is required by calling 306-842-2216. The meeting will be held at the Captain's Hall from 7 to 9 p.m.
