The Weyburn Police Association donated the proceeds from their third annual golf tournament to the Weyburn Youth Centre on Tuesday.

"Each year we just choose a different organization in the community to donate the money to," explained Constable Alyssa Kaczmar. "We know that they try to help the youth in the community by putting on different events and their groups that they have, so we thought that they would be a good organization to donate to."

The total amount of the donation from the funds raised at the tournament was $5,000.

"They offer many different programs and groups for the kids, so there are lots of kids that don't have the opportunity to participate in different things around the community, so the Weyburn Youth Centre is a good place for them to go to spend some time."

She said the funds were raised mainly from donated items that sold during their tournament event on August 30th.

"On behalf of the Weyburn Police Association, we'd like to thank all of the individuals in the community and the different businesses that helped either donate, to whole sponsors or silent auction items," said Kaczmar. "That's a big part of where the donation came from. We also did a raffle draw for a smoker."

Kaczmar noted that the smoker, which was donated by Jeff Chessall, was a particularly popular raffle item.
