Weyburn youth are fundraising to attend YC, a youth convention which takes place in Alberta each year. There will be speakers, bands and teaching to help the young people be inspired and live better lives and talk about what it means to have faith.

Weyburn's Lifecentre Church is raising funds to send 15 of their youth to the convention.

"What we are doing right now is for our youth, it's a youth mentoring group that we have. We are giving them to access to different opportunities to learn. So we are taking them to Red Deer where they can be with their peers, a little older, a little younger," explained Pastor Art Cook, Lead Pastor, Lifecentre Church.

The church has already raised around $2,000 and is looking to raise another $1,800 to get the group there.

"We are doing just about everything we can think of," said Cook. "Right now we are starting up a bottle drive and we are considering an old battery drive in April. We've done meals, different fundraisers in the past."

Cook said they are sending six chaperones with the youth and will have to pay for them to go as well.

The Weyburn Youth Centre and other churches have taken youth to the conference in the past.
