Nearly 200 people were in attendance a Knox Hall for a fundraiser held last Saturday for the Weyburn Youth Centre.

Executive Director Brian Hopfe said the event is their biggest fundraiser for the year.

"We had all kinds of things for the auction, we had right from the Jacuzzi room, for example, at the Canalta Hotel, right down to jewelry, to wheel balancing for your car, detailed package for cleaning your car, to everything in between," he shared. "We decided very early on that we would do the silent auction and live auction and approach businesses to see if they would be willing to donate things to us for that and they graciously do. It's amazing, I can't help but thank the businesses of Weyburn and the individuals, because that's what makes it happen."

He said they still have some funds coming in, but they raised somewhere between $15,000 and $18,000.

"We are so very blessed to be in a community like this, that supports us, that understands what we're doing, they want to help the youth, as we do, obviously," expressed Hopfe. "They look at the youth centre as a place where they can help that, in turn, will help the youth, and we truly appreciate it."

The Weyburn Youth Centre's TAGS Drop-In is closed for the long weekend, but they will reopen next Friday, October 18th. They're also one of the Community Organizations participating in this year's Communithon.
