One great way to get into the Christmas Spirit and celebrate local businesses and organizations is the winter parade.

“On December 6, we are hosting our Weyburn Chamber Parade of Lights,” said Executive Director of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, Twila Walkeden.

She said registration is now open.

“We take registration right up to the time, so certainly we would prefer it this week, but they can register anytime,” she explained. “The line-up process is fairly relaxed at the exhibition grounds, but we would like to have at least a little bit of a notification on how many floats we’re going to be hosting.”

This is the third year that Third Street will be blocked off from Coteau Avenue to Railway Avenue. Walkeden also noted a special parking request of those coming down to watch the parade.

“We’re going to be asking people not to park right along Main Street, just so there can be a real festive and safe atmosphere for people to watch from the downtown area.”

The floats will be judged as well for the best in the individual, business, and organization categories.

The parade begins at 7:00 p.m., with set-up at the exhibition grounds at 6:30 p.m.
