The Saskatchewan government announcing a range of fee increases it says better reflects the cost of related provincial services.

These changes are said to add around $8.7 million to the General Revenue Fund (GRF).

One of the largest additional revenue, more than $2 million, will come from increase to hunting and trapping licence fees, impacting more than 200,000 licensed hunters and trappers.

Around 200,000 licensed anglers will be impacted by an increase in license fees of:

  • $3 for one-day licenses
  • $4 for three-day licenses
  • $8 for annual licences

This will bring in around $850,000 in additional revenue.

Another change includes increases of $5 to $15 for such things as birth, death and marriage certificates.

As of April 1, a penalty of 10 per cent will be applied on audit assessments for mineral, oil and gas producers, totaling $4.5 million in additional revenue. In 2016, 30 companies were found under audit to owe money.
