Local artist Leena Honig is now local author, Leena Love. Her novel, entitled "Wild Thoughts", came out earlier this month in print.

"I always wanted to write a novel, but I'm usually writing short stories, so this was a challenge," Honig said. "I had artwork already done up, so I based the book on my artwork that's been entered into adjudications or commissions."

She said she wanted to self-publish something of which a true artist could be proud.

"I wanted it creative and unique, and a collector's book," she said. "So, inside is coloured pages of my artwork, along with a whole novel. So, it's original."

Although the book doesn't take place in Weyburn, the author said she wanted it to be hard-cover, with an aspect of local interest.

"I also had Chris Borschowa help me with the cover, so artistic in the cover as well," she said, noting that the self-published endeavour is all Saskatchewan-made.

Her main character Jake struggles with listening to his intuition.

"He just moves to a new town, because he's been hurt and he's hiding his past, basically," she explained. "He falls in love with this lady, and it's just his journey to how he falls in love with her."

She noted that it is not for children.

"This is adult fiction, for sure," she said. "There are some scenes in it that are spicy."
