A tragic accident near Lampman Tuesday has left one member of the Estevan RCMP detachment dead, and another injured. The single-vehicle accident happened just outside Lampman. The initial investigation has revealed the car was travelling east when it left the road and rolled. It has been determined alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Cpl. Rob King is with the F Division communications office.

“At this point, we’re not going to identify the members’ names,” Cpl. King explained. We’re still in the process of contacting family members, troop mates, and people they had kind of worked with over the years.”

The accident is being considered a critical incident by the RCMP. Resources are being put in place by the RCMP to help its members.

“We definitely want to try to support them as much as possible in their moment of grief, and our moment of grief as well, as many of us within the division know these two members,” Cpl. King added.

The exact cause of the investigation is still ongoing. The collision reconstruction team is working on the investigation.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
