If you're an avid reader or consumer of materials found through your local library, you're likely already well aware of the new Curbside Pickup Program currently being offered through the Weyburn Public Library.

They began the program last Tuesday as part of their gradual reopening plan.

"It's been busy," said Branch Manager Matthew Rankin. "People are very excited to get their items back. No hiccups so far."

How it began was anyone who had an item on hold prior to the closure, and it was on the shelf, a message would have been sent through the library's online system alerting you it was ready for pickup, even though it has been four months.

"So basically how it works is that you call in, provide your library card number, we check the items out to you, and then we leave it on the curb at the designated time you want to pick it up," explained Rankin.

He reminded their temporary hours are 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday to Saturdays, which is when the curbside pickup will be in operation.

"You can also place holds on items that are within the Weyburn collection," he noted. "So if there's an item that we have on the shelf, you should still be able to put a hold on it."

Today, in fact, is the day all items borrowed prior to the closure are due back.

"Our blue box is open, so if you're able to return those items, that'd be great."

Note the Curbside Pickup bin is not directly located in front of the doors of the WPL, but where it's easiest to pull over and grab the items.
