Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement. Weyburn has participated in Communities in Bloom for a number of years. The judges visited Weyburn in late July and the final scores are out.

"We received a Five Bloom rating which is the highest rating that a community can receive and we were also given a special mention for community tidiness," says Linda Prokott, Parks Coordinator for the City of Weyburn.

Last year Weyburn received Four Blooms, the city worked really hard this year to help to increase the rating. Communities in Bloom cares about more than just aesthitic appeal, it also takes into consideration the steps a community takes to improve environmental impact and keeping it's heritage alive.

"The judges evaluate tidiness, envionemental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape and floral displays," added Prokott.

Weyburn receiving top marks says a lot about the community. The City will see a more detailed evaluation from the judges at the end of October. This evaluation will show Weyburn a breakdown of every category and show us how Weyburn can get top scores again next year.
