Weyburn City Council met for the final time in 2018 on December 17 without much fanfare.

Just three items were on the agenda for Council to vote on and all passed unanimously without problem. The meeting actually lasted only 11 minutes.

The biggest takeaway was a zoning bylaw which was passed to make way for a new doggy day care business being spearheaded by CindyAnn Boehm. The section of land off of Queen St. was outside commercial business limits and the restructuring of the boundries allows the business to move forward with the next step of progress.

The pet day care and training facility would be the first of its kind in the Opportunity City.

Also passed was the appointment of Krismer and Associates to remain as Board of Revision for properities in Weyburn. Clint and Gord Krismer will remain Chair and Vice-Chair, while Gail Wartman was named to the Board.

With that, it puts a wrap on City Council business for the 2018 calender year. Mayor Marcel Roy wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

The first meeting of 2019 will take place on Monday, January 14.
