In a release sent out this afternoon, the City of Weyburn has announced that proof of Covid-19 vaccination or a negative test will be required for adults in City facilities.

According to the release, the proof of vaccination will come into effect on November 8, 2021, and will be required for adults over the age of 18 to accessing City of Weyburn drop-in programs, events, recreational leagues or rental groups who do not already have stricter policies in place.

Adults will be required to show proof of a recognized Covid-19 vaccination or a Covid-19 rapid antigen test or PCR test from within the previous 72 hours.

The new policy will apply to the following:

-City Hall: Access to Council Chambers and meeting rooms.

-Police Station: Access to meeting rooms

-Public Works Building/Fire Hall: Access to meeting rooms

-Weyburn Leisure Center: Access to and the removal of masks for individuals 18 years of age and older while participating in athletic or sports activities, for the duration of the sport or activity only.The removal of masks for on-deck officials while officiating in sports activities, for the duration of the activity only as well as ticketed events.

-Credit Union Spark Center: Access to and the removal of masks for individuals 18 years of age and older while participating in athletic or sports activities, for the duration of the sport or activity only.The removal of masks for on-court/on-field game officials while officiating in sports activities, for the duration of the activity onlyas well as ticketed events.

-Crescent Point Place: Access to and the removal of masks for individuals 18 years of age and older while participating in athletic or sports activities, for the duration of the sport or activity only.The removal of masks for on-ice game officials while officiating in sports activities, for the duration of the activity only as well as ticketed events.

-Tom Zandee Sports Arena: Access to and the removal of masks for individuals 18 years of age and older while participating in athletic or sports activities, for the duration of the sport or activity only.The removal of masks for on-ice game officials while officiating in sports activities, for the duration of the activity onlyas well as ticketed events.

-Soo Line Historical Museum: General access to the facility

-Turner Curling Museum:General access to the facility

The release also notes that children and youth up to age 17 are exempt as are spectators and those accessing facilities for front desk services.
