The Weyburn Agricutlural Society has implemented some measures due to the heat wave hitting the region.

"We saw the heat warnings coming a couple days ago so we lined up a water mister. Just a little tube people can walk under to cool off," said President of the Agricultural Society Jeff Clay. "We've got a few tents lined up to get out of the sun and into the shade."

Clay said the curling rink is open as well so patrons can duck out of the sun. Clay said it's a good excuse to check out the Roy brother's 13-foot balloon "Minion", which is on display at the curling rink during the fair.

Several vendors are selling water to keep fair patrons hydrated in the high heat. There is also a first aid person on site at the fair should anyone need assistance, according to Clay.

Clay said opening night of the midway went well last night, with 2,200 people coming through the gates. The Souris River Rodeo begins tonight.
