Making connections with kids, having those fans in the stands, and enjoying the love of the game. This is the first priority for the Athletics Director at Weyburn Comprehensive School, Jody Kerr.

"We're happy to say that we're a full go back here in the fall here at the Comp, and our kids are excited, coaches are excited. We're hitting the ground running, and football started up about a week and a half ago," said Kerr.

He said the Senior Volleyball team plays their first league game on Saturday, September 11th against Yorkton.

"Lots of kids in the gym, jumping and playing, so it's awesome."

"I think that we've actually got numbers very high," he noted. "I think that we've been very impressed with how many kids are are coming back to the programs and jumping in, after having a basically a full year off. We weren't really sure what that was going to look like when we came back, but it was really nice to see the numbers that we have the last few days."

Every school division our teams play against, Kerr explained, have different Return to Play Guidelines in place.

"So we're just kind of tabulating that together to see what's available, and what kind of tournaments / game process all the teams are going to be able to follow. So that's kind of the next step for us, then, kind of our winter sports."

"This year is just about making connections with kids again, getting them back involved and getting them playing, getting our fans in the stands again, making it an exciting time for the kids in our community to play. That's number one. And once we get that going, then maybe we make some other big plans for other events."

"But for us, just getting them back and playing and getting our parents and grandparents and brothers and sisters back to watch them play, that's outstanding. That's number one for us."

Kerr added WCS is always looking for additional coaches and officials to help out with their programs.

"So if anybody is interested in becoming an official at the Comp for any age group, then they can contact me directly at the school."

"Anybody that's interested in maybe a lending a hand with some coaching with some supports involved, contact me directly at the school and we would love to have people be a part of our program."
