The Weyburn Red Wings threw everything they had at Battlefords North Stars goaltender Taryn Kotchorek Monday afternoon, but the all-time league leader in shutouts added to his total, as the North Stars held on for a five nothing win. After the loss, the Wings still sit in seventh place overall in the SJHL standings, three points back of Notre Dame and three points up on Kindersley. Weyburn is also seven points back of Estevan for first in the Viterra Division.

The North Stars got on the board in the first period, when they converted on the power play with a little over five minutes left in the period. MacGregor Sinclair potted his 30th of the season past Arik Weersink.

Cole Johnson, who has been on a tear since joining the North Stars, added to the lead 4:41 into the second, and Lamb made it 3-0 Battlefords before the end of the second. Brad Girard and Layne Young rounded out the scoring for the North Stars in the third.

The Red Wings put 36 shots on Kotchorek, who turned all aside. Weersink made 38 saves for the Wings.

Weyburn will be back in action Wednesday night, as they head to Estevan to take on the Bruins. It will be the final trip of the season for Weyburn to Estevan.
