Weyburn Red Wings goaltender Arik Weersink turned in one of his best performances since coming to Weyburn Tuesday night. He stopped 46 shots, as the Red Wings beat the Melville Millionaires 2-0 in Melville. The win ties up the best-of-three wildcard series between the two games at a game apiece, forcing a game three Wednesday night in Weyburn.

Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the first, although Melville thought they had. Weersink had covered up the puck in his crease halfway through the frame, when it was poked free and into the net. Immediately, the referees waved the goal off, keeping the score at zero.

Weyburn would then get on the board early in the second. Will Cruise, who was serving a double minor for high sticking, came out of the penalty box, and found the puck right in front of him, and a clear path to the Melville net. He made good on his breakaway, giving Weyburn the lead.

Ty Brown would notch his first of the postseason in the third period, as his power play goal made it 2-0. Brown, while sitting on the ice, swiped at the puck trying to get it to settle down, and ended up putting it over the shoulder of Colby Entz. Ben Hiltz and Mike Eskra were credited with the assists.

Game three of the series will be played Wednesday night in Weyburn. The puck drops at Crescent Point Place at 7:30 p.m. You can catch all the action on Red Wing Radio K106, starting with the pregame show at 7:20 p.m.
