She made the move after taking on a new job in Regina.

Brad Spencer was the outgoing president of the WSA. He had nothing but great things to say about Van De Woestyne.

“The stuff that she’s done and accomplished, and helped to bring this program forward is immeasurable. We just couldn’t thank her enough,” Spencer said after the award ceremony.

Van De Woestyne had coached at nearly every age level and had also coached the girls’ soccer team at Weyburn Comprehensive School.

Overall, the Weyburn Soccer Association was pleased with the results on the field, and off, for their traveling teams. Spencer said the teams are being considered a force to be reckoned with when heading to tournaments.

“Good showing by all of our teams at different tournaments this year, and provincials,” Spencer explained. “It’s been another good year for Weyburn soccer development.”

At the awards evening, the Award for FairPlay from the U14 provincials was also presented to the U14 Red Devils.

The Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Madison Epp. Having been involved with Weyburn soccer most of her life, she too will be leaving the program after coaching the U18 Red Devils program this past season. She is wrapping up classes at the University of Saskatchewan and will be remaining in Saskatoon.
