The WMBL Playoffs continued Wednesday night, with all four of the divisional semifinal series playing the second game of the best-of-fives around the league. Aside from the Weyburn Beavers routing the Moose Jaw Miller Express, there weren’t any lopsided scores, and two of the four series are now tied up at a game each.

In the West Division, the Edmonton Prospects, who entered the postseason as the third seed in the division, extended their edge over the Okotoks Dawgs to 2-0 after their second road win, a 10-8 decision.

Anthony Cusati led the way for the Prospects, with his second home run in as many games. Cusati finished with a total of three RBI. Percy Liu and Zane Tokhar chipped in two RBI each towards the win. Nate Dechaine had a home run for the Dawgs, as Eddie Sanchez and Ryan Humeniuk added two RBI each in a losing effort.

On the mound, Connor Burns got the win for Edmonton, going 5 ⅔ innings, striking out three. Michael Gahan pitched the final three innings to earn the save. The losing pitcher for Okotoks was Cody Ebert, who lasted just 3 ⅔ innings.

The series now moves to Edmonton for games three, and possibly four.

The Lethbridge Bulls tied up their series against the top-seeded Medicine Hat Mavericks, after a 5-2 win on the road.

The Bulls got on the board in the first inning thanks to a two-run blast from Dylan Borman. Two more RBI from Blake MacDonald helped the Bulls to the victory. A solo home run late in the game from Sal Rodriguez failed to provide the spark the Mavericks needed to rally back to tie the game.

Luc Hebert went 8 ⅓ innings for the Bulls, striking out 11, and allowing just the two runs. Talon Derrick came on to earn the save in the ninth inning. The losing pitcher for Medicine Hat was Matt Brooks.

Games three and four of the series will now be played in Lethbridge.

The Swift Current 57’s evened their semifinal series with the Regina Red Sox up at a game each, after holding off the visitors for a 7-5 victory in an error-filled game. The two teams combined to make eight mistakes in the field over the course of the nine innings, less than all three other games played Wednesday combined.

The 57’s put up five runs in the second inning and then held off the visitors for the win. Swift Current was lead by Bo McClintock, Nick Canas and Blake Adams.

Regina did rally to tie the game up late, thanks in part to a home run from Erik Crossman, but they couldn’t pull ahead of the 57’s in the final stretch.

Spencer Koelewyn was credited with the win on the mound, coming on for starting pitcher Joey Machada in the sixth inning. Keil Krumwiede was credited with the save. The losing pitcher for Regina was starter Dylan Bells, who went seven innings, giving up seven runs while striking out eight.

The series now shifts to Regina for games three and four.
