High school volleyball teams from across the southeast are in the hunt for provincial gold this weekend. All five classifications for girls across the province and the 5A boys classification will hold the provincial tournaments this weekend.

In the 5A girls tournament, the WCS Eagles are off to Melfort. They open play this afternoon against Prince Albert St. Mary’s. Later this afternoon they take on the host team from Melfort and close out the day against Campbell Collegiate out of Regina. Their final round-robin game is tomorrow morning against Saskatoon St. Joseph.

The senior boys’ team from WCS is off to Meadow Lake for the 5A boys tournament. They open this afternoon against LeBoldus from Regina. They play Meadow Lake Carpenter later this afternoon, then finish the first day of the tournament against Saskatoon Holy Cross this evening. Their final round-robin game is tomorrow morning against Prince Albert Carlton.

The 4A girls tournament is being played in Yorkton, with representation from the southeast. Notre Dame, based in Wilcox, opens against Caronport this afternoon. They play Dalmeny in their second game, then Nipawin tonight. They finish their round robin against Jonas Samson from Meadow Lake tomorrow morning. In the other pool, Kipling and Oxbow are competing. Oxbow opens against Maidstone, then play Yorkton Sacred Heart, then Kipling. Kipling plays Unity, then Maidstone.

In the 3A girls tournament, Carlyle is the only southeast team competing, and they have home court advantage. They begin to play this afternoon against Watrous, before playing Duck Lake later and close out the day against Langenburg. They finish the round robin tomorrow against Wynyard.

The 2A girls tournament sees Wawota representing the region at the tournament in Kenaston and Davidson. They start to play against Muenster this afternoon, then Kerrobert. They close out the round robin tomorrow with two games, playing Raymore and Langham.
