A promising season for the Southeast Midget AAA Twins baseball club began over the weekend with a pair of road wins to open the 2017 schedule.

The Twins made their way to Swift Current for two games during a cool afternoon in the southwest. Backed by a pair of dominant pitching performances, the Estevan-based squad rattled off back-to-back wins.

GAME 1 - TWINS WIN 4-2

3rd-year player Brett MacMurchy pitched into the final inning to earn the win in the season opener, striking out ten batters and allowing just two walks, six hits and two earned-runs in leading the Twins to victory. Fellow 3rd-year player Ryan Gaab came in relief for the final two outs and earned his first save of 2017.

On offence, the Twins recorded only one hit but were able to capitalize on three errors by the Swift Current defence. 2nd-year player Jaxon Robertson had the big hit, which scored two runs for the Twins. 2nd-year player Walker Happ was also credited with an RBI while the bottom third of the order (Layne Shad (2), Thomas Husband (1), MacMurchy (1)) scored the runs.
