The Redvers Rockets found themselves knotted up 0-0 with Ochapowace in the provincial Senior C southern quarterfinals on the weekend. It would take a 6-4 win on the road for the Rockets to advance to the next round of the playoffs, giving them the victory on the two-game, total point series.

Ochapowace were the first on the board when Tony Kinistino scored on Thomas Bauche at the 3:05 mark of the first period. The Rockets didn’t let the early goal deter them, though, as they rallied back in the rest of the period to take a lead into the dressing room.

It started with a goal from Wyatt Garagan just over 90 seconds after the first goal of the game. Ben Johnstone and Koltyn Miller assisted on the tally.

It would then become a 2-1 game as Brady Gaudet scored his first of three on the night with 6:44 to go in the period. Johnstone picked up his second assist of the night on the goal, with the other helper credited to Ty McLean.

With 1:18 left in the opening period, Gaudet would again find the back of the net. This time, it was Koltyn Miller drawing an assist, along with Jordon Miller.

Gaudet would finish off the natural hat trick in the second period. He scored just 2:59 into the frame, assisted by Travis Poirier and Drew Hoff. From there, Ochapowace would rally back to make it a close game heading into the final stretch.

Down 4-1, Kirkland Cameron scored for Ochapowace, making it a 4-2 game. The goal was followed up with a marker from Sterling Bear just 20 seconds later.

The Thunder would complete the comeback with 53 seconds left in the period. Valdez Bear scored to even the game up, and the teams would be tied heading into the third period.

In the third, the two teams played a fairly tight game until Remi Lamotte was able to score on Russell Abbott with 2:41 left in the period, moving Redvers up 5-4. The goal was assisted by Gaudet, who finished the night off with four points. An insurance marker was added moments afterwards by Ben Johnstone, who finished the night off with three points of his own.

With the win, the Rockets are now off to the next round of the provincial playoffs. They will take on the winner of the series between Odessa and Theodore. Heading into the weekend, Theodore leads the two-game, total point series 7-1.
