The Carnduff Red Devils advancing to the next round of the provincials on the weekend. They played host to the Southey Marlins on Saturday in the Senior B South Quarterfinal. The Red Devils trailed the two-game, total point series 4-3 heading into the game but would rally to win the match-up 9-6 after a 6-2 victory on home ice.

The Marlins would be the first two scoring in the game when Mike Arnold beat Cody Dumaine with 6:44 left on the clock in the first period. It wouldn’t be long before the game was tied, though, with Carnduff finding the back of the net by the end of the period.

With 36 seconds left on the clock, Trevor Geiger scored on Dave Perkin, making it a 1-1 game. He was assisted on the marker by Nico Anderson.

The Red Devils would add to the lead with four goals in the second period, starting with 6:40 remaining.

It started with a tally from Mark Moriarty. His unassisted goal made it 2-1. It was then followed

up just over a minute later when Preston Erickson found the twine behind Perkin. He was assisted on the goal by Matt Audette and Jake McMillen.

Carnduff made it 3-1 when McMillen scored a goal of his own with 3:12 remaining in the middle frame. His linemates, Erickson and Audette, were credited with the assists.

It became a 4-1 game when Derek Cooney scored 35 seconds later. He was assisted by McMillen and Audette.

In the third period, the Marlins scored early to gain some ground on the Red Devils. Pat Thompson-Gale scored on Dumaine 5:33 into the period. It would be too little, too late, however.

The Red Devils would seal the deal when McMillen notched his second goal of the game with 33 seconds left to play. He was assisted by Ryan Curzon and Dylan Herzberg.

The Red Devils will now advance to play Rocanville. The dates for the series have yet to be determined.
