The Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association held the 1A to 4A boys’ volleyball provincial championships on the weekend, and a number of teams from southeast Saskatchewan were competing for gold.

In the 3A tournament, held in Oxbow and Carnduff, Kipling captured the silver medal. They wrapped up the round robin with a record of 3-1, and then in the medal round, beat Island Lake in the quarterfinals, and Waldheim in the semifinals, setting up a matchup with Birch Hills in the finals. It would be Birch Hills, though, who won the back and forth match, winning 2-1.

In the 2A classification, Wawota came home from the tournament with a gold medal. In the round robin, they went undefeated, taking all four of their match-ups, In the quarterfinals, they beat Montmartre 2-0, then Leader 2-0 in the semifinals. This set up a gold medal match against Medstead, which Wawota took 2-0.

The 1A classification was the lone tournament where a team from the southeast didn’t receive any medals. Rouleau and Arcola were competing in the tournament. Arcola went 1-3 and missed the medal round. Rouleau, who finished the round robin with a record of 2-2, were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Bellevue.
