The Southeast Midget Twins, featuring five players from Weyburn, fell 4-1 to the North West Prairie Pirates Sunday afternoon in Unity in the Provincial Midget AA Baseball final.

The Twins advanced to the final with a win earlier in the day Sunday over the Lumsden Cubs.

The team includes Aiden and Rhett Krafchuk, Ty Nikolejsin, Jayke Smolinksi and Hudson Neuberger from Weyburn, and was competing in the Midget AA provincial tournament after narrowly failing to qualify for the AAA event in Saskatoon.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day Sunday, the Weyburn Midget AA Beavers fell 6-5 in heartbreaking fashion to the Parkland Expos in a tiebreaker game for the right to face the North West Prairie Pirates in the semi-final. Nolan Ling worked five innings for Weyburn with Braden Birnie coming on in relief to work the final two innings for the Beavers.

Weyburn finished the event with a 2-2 mark, after posting wins Friday 11-4 over the Southeast Twins and Saturday 21-0 over the Regina Blue Jays.
