Just one game going on last night in the SJHL. Battlefords played host to Melfort and came away with a 4–3 overtime victory. The Mustangs did battle back from a 3–1 deficit to get at least a point out of the game. 

Braydon Buziak, Jacob Bayne, and McGregor Sinclair scored for the North Stars, while Justin Ball, Colin Schmidt, and Tyson Meyers answered for the Mustangs. Matthias Urbanski scored the overtime winner for his third point of the game. 

Joel Gryzbowski stopped 28 of 31 shots for the win, while Hunter Arps was tagged with the loss, making 25 saves. 

The win moves the Stars to 1–2 while the Mustangs drop to 1–1–1.

Four games on the go tonight around the league. Nipawin will head to Flin Flon to take on the Bombers, Melville is back at home to face the Notre Dame Hounds, Melfort plays game two of their road swing in Kindersley tonight, and the Yorkton Terriers will finally have their home opener when the Weyburn Red Wings come to town.

- One of the four remaining unbeaten teams will fall tonight. Both Flin Flon and Nipawin currently sit at 2–0.
