The La Ronge Ice Wolves made it two wins in a row Wednesday night when they edged past the Estevan Bruins 2-1 at Affinity Place.

The Ice Wolves scored first in the game when Jordan Mish put the puck behind Grant Boldt in the second period. Mitch Zambon and Zach Bannister assisted on the marker.

The Bruins would tie things up in the third, when Bryce Platt scored his first as a Bruin, assisted by Turner Ripplinger and Johnny Witzke. The Ice Wolves weren’t going to go away quietly, though. With just under three minutes left in regulation, Max Kleiner scored his first of the season, giving La Ronge the win.

Chad Duran made 32 saves for the win.

In Humboldt, the Flin Flon Bombers opened their road trip to southern Saskatchewan against the Broncos. The Broncos would be victorious on home ice with a 3-2 shootout win.

The Broncos jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the halfway mark of the second period, thanks to goals from Bryson Cecconi and Jackson Kobelka. The Bombers responded before the frame was over, with Brandson Hein scoring his 11th of the campaign, with Calvon Boots and Caleb Moretz assisting.

Moretz would score a goal of his own in the third, an unassisted shorthanded marker which tied the game at two.

Neither team was able to solve anything in overtime, so it went to a shootout. There, Dane Dow was perfect, stopping Chrystopher Collin, Caleb Moretz and Calvon Boots. For the Broncos, Brayden Camrud wasn’t able to score but Owen Guenter could, and it would be enough for the victory.
