When the senior boys' regional volleyball tournament kicks off at Weyburn Comprehensive Friday, the players competing will all be wearing poppy stickers, provided to the teams by the Royal Canadian Legion.

With a number of high school athletic tournaments being played over the weekend, the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association wanted to ensure veterans would be honoured, as Remembrance Day falls on Sunday. In all, close to 7200 stickers would have been worn by athletes across the province, as volleyball regionals across all five classifications, for boys and girls, will be held. The SHSAA provincial football championships will also be played this weekend, and those players will be wearing the stickers as well.

All host schools are also encouraged to plan an observance of Remembrance Day. Free admission to the SHSAA events will also be provided to members of the Legion.
