Broderick Rodocker, Aden Campbell, Griffin Keller and Derek Slate all had RBIs in the opening frame. From there, the pitching and defense from the Red Sox held the Beavers at bay, preventing a comeback.

Regina added a run in the second inning when Jordan Schulz hit his first home run of the postseason. Another run in the sixth rounded out the scoring for the Red Sox.

With two runners left on, though, the Beavers ran into timely defensive plays from the Red Sox to end the inning.

Carlos Flores would lead off the bottom of the 4th with a home run to left-center, closing the gap a little, but the Beavers were unable to bring anyone around to score the runs needed.

On the mound, Ryan Johnson started off a little shaky but rebounded quickly. While he gave up all six runs, he struck out five batters and looked dominant on the mound after the first inning. Brodie Stairs pitched the sixth and seventh innings, striking out one with two hits given up. Landon Mostellar pitched the eighth, and Beau Rabedeaux the ninth.

The series now shifts to Regina for games three and four Thursday and Friday night.

In the other East Division semifinal, the Moose Jaw Miller Express evened things up, as they held off the Swift Current 57’s to win 6-5. The 57’s made it close by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Ben Dalke moved to the mound and earned the save.

In the West Division, Medicine Hat bounced back from Tuesday’s 3-2 extra innings loss. They doubled up the Lethbridge Bulls 6-3. The series is tied at one.

The Edmonton Prospects weren’t expected to do much offensively, going up against the Okotoks Dawgs, the top team in the WMBL, for the opening round of the playoffs. They managed to find a way to keep things interesting, though. They held the Dawgs to just one run and evened the series up with a 2-1 win.
