The Saskatchewan Roughriders are continuing their strong push to improve, with more big signings Wednesday.

The Green and White addressed concerns many had about the team’s depth in the secondary, and also shored up the return game, and have now set themselves up for more options at running back, which will help in terms of the ratio this season.

The day started off with the announcement the team had signed national safety Marc-Olivier Brouillette. The seven year veteran, originally from Montreal, played for his hometown Alouettes his entire career. In 103 games with the Als, he picked up 202 tackles, 30 special teams tackles, eight sacks, and five interceptions. He started all 18 games at safety for the Alouettes last season, recording 37 tackles and an interception. He was also named an East Division All-Star.

As fans began to react to the news of the Brouillette signing, another big name signed. Chad Owen, known as the Flyin’ Hawaiian will be bringing his speed to the Riders. Owens spent last season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and six years with the Toronto Argonauts before that. Last season, with the Tabbies, he had 58 receptions for 808 yards and five touchdowns, before missing the final six games of the season due to injury. Owens was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2012, and helped the Argos to the Grey Cup that year.

The Riders would spend the rest of the day ironing out two more deals. They signed national running back Aaron Milton, and national offensive lineman Ryan Whyte.

Milton spent the past three seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos. He has played in 14 regular season games over the three years, and was with the Eskimos when they won the Grey Cup in 2015.

Whyte is a Montreal native who has played 25 regular season games with the Alouettes. He was drafted out of Bishop’s University in the 2012 CFL draft.

The Riders had kicked off  the 2017 free agency period with two big signing Tuesday. They signed Derek Dennis, the CFL’s Offensive Lineman of the Year, and Kienan LaFrance, a national running back who was with the Ottawa REDBLACKS last season.
