The lone game on the schedule in the Big Six Hockey on Wednesday night came down to the final minutes at the Redvers Rec Centre.

The hometown Rockets would skate away victorious with a 4-2 win over the visiting Oxbow Huskies.

The Rockets would control the play for much of the first two periods. The fourth line for Redvers opened the scoring just a few minutes in with Korby Boutin getting his first of the season to give the Rockets an early 1-0 lead.

Oxbow would respond as a nice give-and-go between Derek Cooney and Brycen Odgers ended up with Cooney getting his 4th goal of the year, firing it five-hole past Rockets' netminder Brodie McColl to even the score at 1-1.

However, Redvers would get two more goals before the end of the period from Brady Gaudet (5) and Jon Potapinski (3) to make it 3-1 Rockets after 20 minutes of play.

Redvers added to their lead early in the 2nd period on the powerplay. Craig Gaudet one-timed a shot past Oxbow's Ethan Veroba for his 4th goal of the season to make it 4-1 Redvers.

The Rockets could have added two or three more markers in the 2nd period, but Veroba did his part to keep the Huskies in it with a number of big-time saves on breakaways and shots in tight to keep it 4-1 after 40 minutes.

That sparked Oxbow early in the 3rd period as they cut into the lead on the man-advantage. Taysen Holt dug out a puck in the corner and centered it out front for Braden Brock who shoveled his 4th of the year to make it 4-2 with 17 minutes remaining.

The two teams traded chances for the rest of the final period, with Oxbow coming close to chipping away at the deficit. But the Huskies would ultimately fall short, despite a tremendous 48-save effort from Veroba, falling 4-2.

Redvers (6-3) now claims sole possession of 2nd place in the Big Six with the win, while Oxbow (4-4) remains in the middle of the pack after eight games.
