The Weyburn Red Wings embark on a three night, three-game road trip today, taking on teams in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division. It starts out with a game against the Battlefords North Stars tonight, before two games against Humboldt, tomorrow and Saturday.

The Wings are entering the road trip six points back of the Estevan Bruins for first in the Viterra Division, and have three games in hand. Weyburn is also two points out of sixth place in the league with a game in hand over the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Red Wings have faced the North Stars twice this season. The first game was a 1-0 win for the Wings back on November 11th, in North Battleford. The second game was back in Weyburn, and this time it was a Battlefords with by a score of 5-3.

The North Stars are lead by the league’s leading scorer, Layne Young. Joining him on the roster is MacGregor Sinclair, who has improved from last season, and defenseman Levi Kleiboer. Rookie Matthias Urbanski has also been a key factor for the North Stars this season.

For the Wings, they will be entering the road trip without the services of Cole Woodliffe and Dylan McCabe, who were shaken up last weekend against the Yorkton Terriers. This will mean some holes to fill for the Red Wings, but they did find themselves in a similar situation the last time they were in North Battlefords. The game-winning goal in the 1-0 shutout came from AP Connor Gabruch, who was called up from the Saskatoon Blazers for the game. Weyburn will have a number of the usual suspects in the lineup, though, including Ben Hiltz, Cade Kowalski, Mike Eskra, Jordan Kazymyra, and many more.

The game tonight will be broadcast on Red Wing Radio K106, starting with the pre-game show at 7:20 p.m. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
