The Weyburn Beavers were looking to finish off the Regina Red Sox Thursday night. Instead, they found themselves on the wrong side of a 10-4 decision, and will now have to play a game five in their WMBL East Division final with their rivals.

The Beavers had trouble mustering any offence throughout the game, with an exception in the first inning. Corey Harrell hit his 4th home run of the postseason in the first, a three-run blast to right field. It brought in Corey Wheaton and Wade Weinberger.

The first inning also provided half of the hits the Beavers would achieve all game, as they were limited to just six. In one stretch, Red Sox starting pitcher Kyle Wilson retired 16 of 17 batters faced.

The scoring started in the second inning for Regina, when they rocked Beavers starting pitcher Chase Thometz. It started with an RBI single from Erik Crossman and was followed up by a two-run home run by Matt DeNeau. A triple to right field by Adam De La Cruz before the end of the inning brought in two more runs.

In the fourth inning, the Red Sox added four more runs. These came from an RBI single to right, followed by a three-run home run by Jahshua Jones. The home run also meant the end of the night for Thometz. He was replaced after the next batter, with Conner DiNaro coming out to finish off the game.

Thometz finished the night going 3 ⅔ innings, allowing seven earned runs, while striking out five. DiNaro finished the night off, pitching 4 ⅓ innings, striking out four, and allowing one run on four hits.

In the seventh inning, the Beavers started to put together a rally. Singles from Drake Pilat and Felix Correa, followed up by a walk to Tyler Scott, loaded the bases. Corey Wheaton then came to the plate, and drew another walk, resulting in a single run. Keaton Greenwalt was the next batter but ended up grounding out to third, resulting in the end of the inning.

The series now shifts back to Weyburn for the fifth and deciding game of the WMBL East Division final. It will be played at Tom Laing Park Friday night, starting at 7:00 p.m.
