Derrick Pouliot is on the move. The Weyburn native was traded Tuesday morning from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Vancouver Canucks.

Pouliot, who is 23, split last season between the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL. He has appeared in 67 NHL games, posting two goals and 12 assists. In the AHL, he has scored 20 goals and added 50 assists in 114 games. He was also selected for the AHL All-Star Game in 2015 and 2016. Pouliot also won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2016.

The trade comes after the Penguins signed the young defenceman to a one-year, one-way $800,000 contract in July.

Going back to the Penguins from Vancouver is defenceman Andrey Pedan and a 4th round selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
