The Weyburn Pee Wee Canadian Tire Angels improved to 9-2 on the weekend, as they topped the Ochapowace Thunder 6-4 at home Sunday. With the win, the Angels are now tied for second in the South Division of the SaskFHL, three points back of the Parkland Fire. Weyburn also has four games in hand over the division leaders.

Ochapowace opened the scoring in the first period, when Paris Pasap scored 7:04 into the first period. Weyburn responded before the period was out, as Boston Runge got the puck past Thunder goaltender Mishauna Prettyshield with 2:08 left in the period.

Weyburn would then take the lead in the second period, when Delainy Knoll scored before the period was two minutes old. Rori Dickie assisted on the goal.

The lead would be short-lived, however, as the Thunder tied the game up moments later, Hailey Mckay scoring her first of two goals on the day.

Weyburn regained the lead when Peyton Brenholen scored her second of the season with 12:47 left on the clock. Knoll assisted on her goal.

The game would again become deadlocked two minutes later when Mckay scored her second of the game.

Weyburn would head to the dressing room after 40 minutes with the lead, though. Brenholen scored her second of the game with 2:01 on the clock. Amy Roemer and Addison Greve were credited with the assists on the goal.

In the third period, the Thunder tied things up at the 12:10 mark, when Cherish Kaysaywaysemat scored. It would be the last goal the Thunder goal past Kailyn McFadden, as the Wings then pushed to gain the lead, and hold it.

Lola Brady scored on the power play to break the tie with 2:34 remaining in the period. Dickie assisted on the goal.

Runge then added an insurance marker with her second of the game coming with 39 seconds left in regulation.

The Angels are now off to southwest Saskatchewan for a pair of games. They play the Swift Current Fire Cats Saturday and the Southwest Cyclones in Gull Lake Sunday.
