The Pee Wee Canadian Tire Angels went into Estevan Sunday, and came away with a big victory, as they topped the Bearcats 5-3. The win pulled the Angels closer to first in the South Division of the SaskFHL, where they trail the Swift Current Ice Cats by four points, but also have three games in hand.

In the game Sunday, the Angels jumped out to an early lead, and essentially dominated play in the first period. Talyn Johnston scored before the period was seven minutes old, with Delainy Knoll getting the assist. Just over two minutes later, Knoll scored a goal of her own, assisted by Johnston. The Angels would then extend their lead to 3-0 with a marker from Meaghan Weger. Lola Brady and Jordyn Hughes assisted on the goal, which came with 3:29 left in the opening frame.

The lone goal in the second period came from Estevan, as Kasenya Einarson managed to get the puck past Amy Swayze. The goal proved to be a spark for the Bearcats, as they came out firing in the third period.

Lauren Hassler and Kaylin Wilhelm scored unassisted goals, making it a 3-3 game with just 6:30 left in the period. The Angels wouldn’t be deterred, though. It started with a power play goal from Addison Greve with 4:17 left in the period. Boston Runge assisted on the tally. Rori Dickie then scored the game-winner with just under two minutes remaining. Charlotte Kosior and Meaghan Weger assisted on the goal.

The Angels will now get set for their next game, which is Sunday. They host the Southwest Cyclones at the Tom Zandee Sports Arena.
