The Pee Wee AA Young Fellow Wings made it through the round robin with a record of 2-1, and qualified for the semi-finals, but came up just short at the Sask Challenge Cup in Saskatoon on the weekend.

They opened the tournament with an 8-1 loss to the Saskatoon Express Thursday night but then bounced back in a big way. Friday afternoon, they routed the Martensville Marauders 7-3, then followed it up with another 7-3 win, this time over the St. Albert Sabres in the final game of the round robin Saturday morning.

The wins advanced the team to the quarterfinals, where they took the ice against the Saskatoon Kodiaks. Weyburn picked up the win in the game, with a final of 3-1. This set up the semi-final against Saskatoon Mission Saturday morning.

The two teams were tied at two after 60 minutes, so a 3-on-3 overtime period was played. After the extra time, the game remained tied, sending it to a shootout. Once there, the Mission ended up picking up the win. They went on to win the tournament.

Quinn Mantei, the captain of the Pee Wee Young Fellow Wings, was voted on to the tournament’s all-star team.
