It isn’t often the Pee Wee AA Young Fellow Wings find themselves playing games during the week, but they were on the ice Wednesday, hosting the Estevan Bruins. The Wings, who are nine points back of Estevan for fourth place in the SAAHL South Sask Division, were looking to make up some ground, and still, hold their three games in hand. The Bruins were hoping to expand their lead in the standings.

It would turn out, neither team would get their way, as they skated to a 2-2 tie.

Weyburn took the lead in the final minutes of the first period. Silas Stein scored on Estevan goalie Ty Fehrenbach with 3:36 remaining in the frame. The goal was assisted by Owen Istace.

Cruz Klapak then made it a 2-0 game early in the second period. He scored at the 2:03 mark of the period, assisted by Brennan Brown and Morgan LaCoste.

The Bruins applied pressure, and eventually broke the shutout bid of Weyburn netminder J’Anne Colbow with 6:50 to go in the third period.

Chase Foord scored on the powerplay, assisted by Ryker Mathison and Mason Berta. The goal was then followed up by a marker from Carter Onrait with 2:32 left in the period. Carter Hirsch and Sutter Baily assisted on the game-tying goal.

The Wings will now get a bit of rest. They return to the ice on Saturday, when they host Yorkton at Crescent Point Place.
