The Weyburn Opportunity Road Race was held Sunday, with nearly 100 entrants coming out from around the province to take part. Runners participated in one of three distances - 5k, 10k and 15k - on courses which went through the city, and finished downtown.

In the 5k race, there were a total of 44 participants. Gerry Nagy was the top finisher, in a time of 18:23. The top female finisher was Shanna Stadnyk, who finished the race with a time of 24:47.

The 10k race had Jeffrey Crawford out front as the top finisher, running a time of 37:56. The top female finisher in the race was Tracy Fisher, who had a time of 44:47. The 10k also saw Weyburn Police Service Constable Jeff Bartsch finish in a time of 1:12:09. Bartsch ran the race in full uniform.

The 15k race had Paula Anderson finish with a time of 1:07:36, fast enough to be the top female runner. The fastest time put up by a male runner in the 15k came from Michael McCudden, with a time of 1:24:58.

There was also a Kid's Mini-Mile, which allowed children to participate in the race.
