The August announcement for the Montreal Canadiens Alumni game started a countdown of increasingly growing excitement to see hockey legends in Weyburn.

The Element Wings made up of Weyburn and Area residents, took to the ice last night to take on NHL players and a five-time Stanley Cup winner Steve Shutt as the alumni coach.

The Canadiens Alumni defeated the Element Wings 12-7.

Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy dropped the puck for the start of the game.

Novice hockey players had a once in a lifetime opportunity to have time on the ice with the Canadiens.
