The midget AA Streamline Wings will finish third in the South Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. The position was locked up when they skated to a 4-4 draw with the Estevan Bruins Sunday.

The Bruins were determined to pick up the win, jumping out to an early lead when Dalton Schrader scored just seven minutes into the opening period. Estevan added to the lead early in the second when Jacob Palmer scored on the power play. Weyburn would reply, though, as Rhett Nikolejsin took over.

Nikolejsin scored just before the halfway mark, with Nivay Haupstein and Mitchell McDonald picking up the assists. Nikolejsin would add one more before the period wrapped up, as he scored on the power play with 4:50 on the clock. Jake Roettger and Luke Niemegeers recorded the assists. The Bruins would be the ones in the lead at the intermission, though, as Liam Rutten scored with 90 seconds remaining in the middle frame.

The Bruins made it a two goal lead early in the third, when Schrader scored his second of the game. Weyburn was determined, though, and the momentum swung back their way with just over four minutes left. Braden Birnie scored to pull the Wings within one, as Matthew Anderson and Todd Johnson got the assists. Just 1:20 later, another powerplay goal from Rhett Nikolejsin, as he completed the hat trick. Haupstein and Roettger were credited with those assists.

The Wings will close out their regular season on Tuesday, when they host the Notre Dame Argos. The game could be a preview of the first round of the SSMHL playoffs, as the Argo are currently in sixth place in the league. The game on Tuesday starts at 8:15 p.m. at Crescent Point Place.
