The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings playing three games in three days on the weekend, and came away with mixed results. They started off on the road Friday night in Wilcox, taking on the Notre Dame Hounds. Then, two home games with the Regina Rangers in town Saturday, and the Melville Millionaires Sunday.

In Wilcox on Friday, it would be the home team who came away with the victory. The Hounds beat the Wings 3-1.

Hudson Hall scored the lone goal for the Wings in the second period. The power play marker was assisted by Sam Chittenden and Brogan Schmeltzer.

Saturday, it was a high scoring affair between the Wings and the Rangers at Crescent Point Place. In the end, it would be the Rangers coming out on top as they secured a 6-5 win in overtime.

The Rangers were the first to score before two goals in the second half of the opening period gave Weyburn a 2-1 lead. Mitchell McDonald scored the first goal unassisted, and the second was a shorthanded effort, also unassisted, from Sam Chittenden.

In the second period, the Rangers tied things up again, before Brogan Schmeltzer tallied at the 7:53 mark with an unassisted power-play goal. Rylan Erb then made it 4-2 Weyburn, with his goal assisted by Chittenden and Gavin Doud. The scoring kept coming for Weyburn as Hudson Hall then found the back of the net 23 seconds after Erb, assisted by Tanner Rowland and Sawyer Kopec.

The Rangers weren’t finished, though, and rallied to score two more goals in the second period, making it a 5-4 game. Then in the third, with just three seconds left on the clock, Regina tied the game up, forcing overtime.

In the extra period, it would be Adam Husli from Regina who would score, with the game-winner finishing the hat trick.

Sunday, the Wings came out firing against the visiting Melville Millionaires. It would be the Wings all the way, as they skated to a 2-0 win, with all the needed offence coming in the opening frame. Schmeltzer scored the first goal before the game was five minutes old, assisted by Erb. McDonald then made it 2-0 at the 8:37 mark, with Gavin Doud getting the assist.

Matt Dutchak turned away all 33 shots faced to pick up the shutout.

The Wings will be back in action Friday. They host the Moose Jaw Midget Warriors at Crescent Point Place.
